Environmentally Friendly Surface Engineering
Nitrotec
®
Technical Overview
The Nitrotec process converts the surface of the steel to form a very hard wearing surface which is strong, indentation resistant and has anti-corrosion properties. The characteristics of the process is that of low temperature and a relatively short time duration.
The Nitrotec process diffuses Nitrogen into the steel forming a hardness profile of approximately 0.5 mm depth. This increases yield strength by up to double or treble for thin components. The process is an advanced form of Nitro-Carburising.
Core properties of the substrate steels are maintained.
